An Attractive Salary Range of $46,000 to $52,000 per Year along with a Generous $5000 Sign-on Bonus

Work Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, including 2 evenings (40 hours per week)

The Bilingual Recovery Counselor plays a crucial role in evaluating and planning treatment approaches for clients by understanding their personal, medical, emotional, social, and environmental circumstances. This involves conducting visits to homes, communities, and offices.

In addition, they offer personalized motivational therapy and support to clients in English and Spanish to facilitate their recovery from mental health issues. Furthermore, the Recovery Counselor serves as a supporter for clients, connecting them with necessary community resources when required.


Operating from a client-centric, strengths-based, and trauma-informed perspective, the Recovery Counselor caters to individuals dealing with severe mental illnesses and co-occurring substance use/addiction disorders, employing a harm reduction methodology in both English and Spanish languages.


With a focus on community support, the Recovery Counselor dedicates a minimum of 60% of their services to the community, ensuring effective case management for their assigned clientele. It is essential for the Recovery Counselor to maintain detailed documentation of all services rendered to clients, adhering to agency regulations and state guidelines.


Responsibilities:


  • Assess clients' personal, medical, emotional, social, and environmental contexts through visits conducted in English and Spanish.
  • Develop tailored treatment plans collaboratively with clients, their respective teams, Providers, and natural support networks. Coordinate closely with the client's team to guarantee treatment quality and seamless care provision.
  • Regularly update progress notes reflecting the services offered to clients, following Trilogy's documentation policy and agency standards meticulously.
  • Complete all essential documentation linked to client care such as IMCANS, LOCUS, and tracking forms within the Electronic Medical Record system.
  • Identify opportunities to transition clients to appropriate care levels, offering referrals for additional services as necessary.
  • Aid clients in recognizing and managing signs of decompensation, crisis situations, or the requirement for stabilization through hospitalization. Collaborate with clients to develop coping mechanisms for managing symptoms and stressors effectively, in both English and Spanish.
  • Deliver psychoeducation, medication guidance, and monitoring in both English and Spanish, aligning with Trilogy's established protocols.
  • Coordinate with the team nurse/pharmacy to ensure precise client medication management.
  • Maintain real-time documentation on medication administration records (MAR).
  • Support clients in enhancing independent living skills, encompassing personal hygiene, household upkeep, nutrition, and shopping for essential items.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the representative payeeship process as per agency guidelines while delivering personalized client money management services.
  • Accompany and transport clients to crucial community appointments, offering assistance on various issues like housing, substance use, financial management, social support, and medication.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients and empower them to advocate for themselves when deemed appropriate.
  • Foster effective communication within the team framework to ensure a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to client care.
  • Actively engage in team communication through different electronic platforms.
  • Participate regularly in team and supervision meetings to consult and collaborate on shared caseloads.
  • Meet or surpass the direct service objectives set for the position.
  • Undertake any additional duties or projects as delegated.

Qualifications:

  • Essential Requirements:
  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree in counseling and guidance, rehabilitation counseling, social work, education, vocational counseling, psychology, pastoral counseling, family therapy, or a related human service field
  • A Bachelor's degree in any other discipline coupled with two years of supervised clinical experience within a mental health setting
  • Holding a license as a Practical Nurse under the Nurse Practice Act [225 ILCS 65]
  • Possessing a Certificate of Psychiatric Rehabilitation from a DHS-approved program, along with a high school diploma/GED and two years of experience in a mental health setting
  • CRSS certification from IAODAPCA
  • Possession of a Family Partnership Professional certificate from IAODAPCA and being in good standing
  • Licensed as an Occupational Therapy Assistant under the Illinois Occupational Therapy Practice Act [225 ILCS 75] with at least one year of experience in a mental health context;
  • A high school diploma or GED alongside five years of supervised clinical experience in a mental health setting
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish is mandatory
  • Valid Illinois Driver's License with daily access to a vehicle. Adequate $100,000/$300,000 auto liability insurance coverage is required.
  • Capability to work evenings and weekends as necessary
  • Previous experience in working with individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders is advantageous
