Description

Requirements include:


  • Strong computer skills (PC) and experience using common office software.
  • Familiarity with internet functionality and usage, including Gmail.
  • Comfortable with technology, able to troubleshoot occasional tech issues and articulate challenges as they arise.
  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks desktop software (soon converting to webbased version) and strong knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel and Word. Familiarity with PowerPoint is also helpful.

Basic responsibilities:


  • Neatly maintain monthly income and expense files and banking records.
  • Answer phones and check voice mail messages.
  • Check mailbox daily and disseminate or respond to mail as needed.
  • Interact with vendors, order office and event supplies as needed.
  • Assist with annual filing of licenses and other documents such as gaming licenses, tax documents, and USPS bulk mailing arrangements.
  • Work alongside board members and organization president to prepare simple monthly financial position statements.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned.
  • Experience interacting with senior citizens is also a plus.

In QuickBooks, ability to:


  • Make accurate entries of deposits and debits.
  • Prepare bank deposits, pay bills, generate basic memorized reports.
  • Write and print checks using the QuickBooks software.
  • Meet with accountant quarterly for bank statement reconciliation and general audit.

In Excel, ability to:


  • Create spreadsheets and reports.
  • Carry out data entry and understand use of sort and other basic functions of Excel.
  • Maintain membership roster, mailing lists, etc.

In Word, ability to:


  • Prepare correspondence and understand all basic function of Word.
  • Prepare membership labels and make use of the "mail merge" function.
  • Understand most basic functions of Word such as setting margins and tabs and a reasonable typing speed.

In PowerPoint, ability to:


  • Occasionally prepare very basic slide show presentations using mostly text and a few graphic elements.

Pay rate:

This is a long-term independent contractor position. Pay rate is $20 per hour.
