Sr. Database DeveloperIdeal candidate will have 7-10 years of experience in similar role.
Senior database developers may also be involved in other aspects of software development, such as requirements gathering or testing. In addition, they often act as technical leads on projects, overseeing junior developers and providing guidance where needed.
The candidate must be a team player, willing to provide constructive feedback and guidance to other technical staff as well as contribute to the continuous improvement of our software development processes and approach.
Candidate would have a passion for technology and a desire to use technology to improve operations and customer/employee experience; Empathy and experience working with coworkers from diverse backgrounds and the ability to present information in an insightful and structured manner.
Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS technologies.
Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.
Support our hosted applications on existing technology infrastructure and to help develop the strategy for our next generation efforts.
Manage and maintain the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of any SQL related software and hardware.Implement and support databases, storage systems, high-availability solutions, replication, encryption, and disaster recovery solutions.
Maintain SQL databases associated with production and non-production environments, facilitating accurate testing and deployment of internally developed applications.
Keep our data separated and secure across national boundaries through multiple data centers and AWS regions.
Identifying, designing and implementing internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes
Building required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources using AWS and SQL technologies
Building analytical tools to utilize the data pipeline, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics including operational efficiency and customer acquisition
Creating and Managing development / production databases
Data modeling and design
Database performance tuning
Documentation of database systems
Skills required:
Bachelor's degree or related experience in computer science, information technology, software engineering or a related field.
Experience with relational SQL databases, including Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL and PostGres.
Advanced PLSQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management.
A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets.
SQL Server Administration (SSMS, SQL clustering, Data Synchronization, Encryption, Partitioning, Performance and Security), T-SQL
Solid understanding of the software development process, including requirement gathering, analysis/design, development tools/technologies, release/version control, contemporary testing methodologies.
Strong Experience with SQL query performance tuning.
Experience working with JIRA, Confluence and Gitlab.
Skills preferred:
Experience with big data tools: Spark, Kafka, etc.
Experience with AWS cloud services: EC2, MSK, S3, Fargate, RDS
Working knowledge of message queuing and stream processing.
