Scraps & Skeins, our creative reuse shop, offers a wide range of unique finds while promoting the concept that reuse is beautiful and providing employment and volunteer opportunities for men and women facing mental health challenges.

We are seeking an assistant manager who can assist with managing our reuse shop.


Scraps & Skeins' multifaceted mission
- to provide employment opportunities for men and women facing mental health challenges
- to offer the community affordable creative materials beautifully arranged in an inviting shop
- to offer an outlet for knitters and quilters to pass on overflow materials,
- to save reusable têxtiles from the landfill
- and to promote the concept that reuse is beautiful


Responsibilities

• Collaborate in curating captivating visual displays for the shop, ensuring regular rotation of shelves with fresh merchandise on a monthly basis to invigorate the presentation of new items
• Maintain the shop's organization, cleanliness, and aesthetic appeal, ensuring it remains inviting and visually pleasing at all times
• Process donated materials
• Assist with managing online shop
• Assist in ensuring shop coverage during operating hours
• Support and delegate tasks to other team members
• Assist with the opening and closing procedures of the shop
• Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers
• Participate in community events and outreach efforts to raise awareness about the store, its mission, and the importance of creative reuse, fostering positive relationships with customers and local organizations.
• Allow us to provide more shopping hours to the community

Minimum Qualifications

• Criminal background check required.
• Ability to actively listen, communicate clearly, and think creatively is necessary
• Must have strong interpersonal skills, be able to work as part of a team, and to build relationships
• Must be able to lift up to 15lbs
