Duties:


The Duties are are as follows but not limited to:1_. Assesses _staff learning needs with various designs and tools for data collection to discover the learning needs and knowledge gaps both systemwide and in specific clinical areas.
- _Plans and implements_ educational activities and offerings to address the unique needs of the patient population, strategic goals, findings from performance improvement activities, new trends in healthcare, and expectations of external regulatory agencies.
- _Evaluates _feedback on programs and achievement and effectiveness of learning in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains with a variety of techniques and strategies.

  • Reviews and revises education programs to reflect learner preferences, needs, outcomes, followup, healthcare trends, research, and changes in the health care environment.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of curriculum development, including identifying program outcomes, designing competency statements, writing, learning objectives, and selecting appropriate learning activities and evaluation strategies.
  • Fosters relevant populationspecific programs in staff development, such as diseasespecific, physical, and psychosocial dimensions of care, as well as patient care delivery systems and patientcentered care model.
  • Participates in the orientation of new nursing staff and others as appropriate to their role and duties.
  • Forms partnership with community resources to develop educational programs on topics outside the realm of internal resources.
  • Serves as team leader or active member on workgroups chartered to develop program policy, procedure/guidelines, or other special projects.
  • Demonstrates autonomy through selfdirection and motivation in practice.
  • The Clinical Nurse Educator may be required to drive to other locations associated with C.W. Bill Young VAMC and a current unrestricted driver's license is needed.
  • The Clinical Nurse Educator will function as a Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB) facility trainer to provide formal/informal/virtual/in-person instruction to clinicians and support staff on how to manage all types of safely and effectively patient generated disruptive behaviors.
  • The Clinical Nurse Educator must meet facility trainer expectations and maintain PMDB Facility trainer certification status, including attending trainings to ensure such status.

Qualifications:


Basic Requirements:

English Language Proficiency. In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7403(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.

Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE);
OR Individuals attending a master's level bridge program in nursing who have completed coursework equivalent to a bachelor's level degree in Nursing may hav
