Division Overview:


Youth & Family Services (YFS) help parents and young people who are striving to become healthy and restore their relationships.

This division works in partnership with human services, child welfare

systems, juvenile courts, and community-based service providers so that together we can help individuals

and families obtain the services and skills they need to live in positive, healthy ways.

We are currently looking for full-time - Regional Outreach Worker

Starting at $41,600 - contingent upon experience, education, etc.


Summary:


This position is responsible for increasing public awareness and providing outreach services of Problem Gambling to Adult Criminal Justice Services (ACJS) and the Juvenile Justice Services (JJS) in the North and Northwest regions of the state.

This position will be responsible for identifying referral sources and community-based services for individuals with substance use/mental health and/or gambling disorders.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Host virtual and inperson presentations to community partners (behavioral & Mental health facilities, criminal justice facilities, and schools and universities) on Gambling awareness in Sports Betting.
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and monitor outreach activities in the regional area of responsibility, i.e., Cook, Winnebago, Lake, and Will County to distribute gambling materials for educational and antistigma purposes (i.e. Hosting a booth at a health fair, presenting at a school event, or faithbased facility).
  • Ensure criminal justice partners are aware of TASC's ability to service the gambling population.
  • Work with TASC area Administrators on developing and/or identifying opportunities and implementation processes to ensure referrals are received.
  • Maintains a daily work activity log that includes a listing of all prospective gambling service providers, gambling prevention organizations, client contacts, client referrals, gambling service provider contacts, communitybased organizational and faithbased visits, meetings, and conferences attended, and other relevant activities.
  • Prepare, interpret and present reports regarding program operations, evaluation of service and utilization of resources.
  • Provide initial and ongoing assessment of community opportunities.
  • Work actively in the communities to locate and secure community provider resources such as debt relief, gambling, and other supportive services.
  • Provide representation and consultation with other outside professionals to facilitate coordination, collaboration, and cooperation between the agency and the community.
  • Maintain a positive and cohesive working atmosphere by maintaining positive professional relationships with all internal and external colleagues including, but not limited to TASC leadership, coworkers, funding sources, vendors, and clients.

Requirements:


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field preferred; four to seven years of related experience in the field or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities and skills.
  • Possesses at least two years program outreach experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently; strong presentation and engagement skills preferred
  • Knowledge of best practices in gambling, substance use and recovery support services preferred.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral)
  • Ability to work with a diverse population
  • Must be available to attend meetings and meet the needs of the program throughout the city, counties or wherever needed (a valid driver's license, current auto insurance and reliable automotive transportation are required).
