Summary/Objective
The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating the activities of sanitation personnel.

This position ensures timely and adequate sanitation functions in compliance with all safety requirements, food safety policies, and regulatory guidelines.

This position provides support to meet departmental and company goals as well as monitoring and improving plant food safety, personnel safety, and productivity.


Essential Functions

  • Maintain and track the status of the plant Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).
  • Ensure consistent work practices in adherence to all OSHA, FDA, and company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for sanitation equipment and to verify that it is in good working condition. This includes routine inspections, escalating issues and overseeing repairs are completed.
  • Supervise the completion of sanitation activities, including the cleaning and sanitizing of plant equipment and cleaning of facilities.
  • Manage the selection of qualified personnel, conduct performance evaluations, and follow company disciplinary process when applicable.
  • Oversee that proper staffing needs are met and direct work schedules and regulate workflow to complete sanitation activities in a timely manner.
  • Provide appropriate training and guidance to employees in safety procedures, proper techniques, and the correct use of chemicals and equipment.
  • Maintain records of activities, training documentation, and MSS status as required.
  • Verify Pest Control program is documented and kept current.
  • Complete Root Cause Analysis of deviations to the Environmental Monitoring Program. Make recommendations and complete corrective actions as needed.
  • Support Operations, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Safety and Management through clear communication of issues and findings.
  • Represent Sanitation in scheduled meetings, reviews, and audits as needed. Participate in Monthly Safety Committee meetings.
  • Assist the Sanitation Manager in tracking and trending concerns for headcount, overtime, chemical usage, Pre-Op findings, and others concerns related to departmental goals.
  • Make positive, proactive contributions and recommendations for improvements.
  • Other duties as required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:


  • 35 years of sanitation experience in a food manufacturing facility.
  • 12 years proven supervisory and leadership abilities.
  • Outstanding communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of Safety regulations, FDA regulations, and GFSI Auditing Standards.
  • Solid problem solving and decisionmaking skills, attention to detail, organization, ability to execute multiple tasks while maintaining confidentiality and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills

CONSIDERED A PLUS:


  • Bachelor's degree in science or related field preferred
  • Certification in AIB, HACCP, PCQI or other related programs.
  • In depth knowledge of wet and dry sanitation in the baking industry.

Supervisory Responsibility


This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, heat and extreme cold.

The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

An office space; working computer, telephone, desk, and chair as needed to complete administrative tasks. Enter and work within temperature controlled environments of -10 to 85 degrees. Some assignments may involve exposure to noise, chemicals, biohazards, and various forms of radiation. Some assignments could be extremely dangerous in the event of dizziness, loss of consciousness, or loss of balance. Working conditions are normal for a plant manufacturing food.
