Description
This is a position for a Motor Vehicle Operator within the Housing Rehabilitation and Abatement Unit within the Department of Buildings (DOB).
The Housing Rehabilitation and Abatement Unit is responsible for correcting any violations on residential and commercial properties that have been cited for such violations as: excessive grass, weeds, properties that are open and accessible to the public within the community and presents a safety concern and clearing trash from properties that are mostly vacant and/or blighted.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent for this position works as a Motor Vehicle Operator operating gasoline and diesel powered vehicles with gross vehicle weights of more than 26,001 pounds, capable of carrying loads weighing four (4) tons, i.e., lift gate open body, compactor, or other types of links which have two (2) or more gear ranges capable of providing six (6) or more forward speeds and have six (6) or more driving wheels.
Operator checks vehicles at the beginning and end of shift to ensure equipment is operable and adequate fuel, engine oil, hydraulic oil, water and tire pressure levels are maintained.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Incumbent must possess a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's Permit/License.
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) (Class A or B) Preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT
Incumbent is required to participate in extreme weather condition declared by the agency Director and/or the Mayor of the District of Columbia.
