Kean Miller has an opening for a Probate Litigation Paralegal to work in our Houston office.


Duties:


  • Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation from case inception through discovery, resolution or trial, posttrial, and case closure
  • Prepare court filings and assembling of exhibits
  • Drafting and responding to discovery demands (interrogatories, requests to produce documents, etc.)
  • Assist with preparation and support for depositions, hearings, and mediations
  • Review and summarize depositions and medical records
  • Maintain case dockets and calendars
  • Coordinate electronic discovery
  • Prepare probate pleadings, federal estate tax returns, trust/estate accountings, and funding calculations
  • Manage trust administration, probate, and conservatorships
  • Draft initial versions of trusts, petitions, proposed orders, declarations, and supplements
  • File court documents, including efiling
  • Coordinate court appearances and organize case files for hearings
  • Act as a liaison with clients, law firms, trustees, financial advisors, probate court clerks, and other stakeholders

Experience and Education Requirements:


  • A Bachelor's or Associates degree, a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA approved school is highly desired
  • Minimum of 3 years prior experience in complex estate planning, probate, guardianship, and trust matters
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all facets of the litigation lifecycle: case management, document review, and trial experience
  • Technical proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint required
