There is a lot of electronics involved in energy and communication technology today. Electricians for industrial technology are responsible for ensuring that the electronic side works in conjunction with mechanics.

As an electrician for industrial technology, you will assemble, install, and program electrical operating, production, and process systems, as well as switch and control systems and energy supply systems.

You will calculate and measure electrical values and sizes of components, commission systems, and test them for safety. You will learn about electrical connections and how to read circuit diagrams. During operation, you will monitor and maintain production systems and troubleshoot any issues that arise. You will carry out your tasks independently, while adhering to relevant regulations and safety measures. Electricians for industrial technology are considered electrical specialists according to accident prevention regulations.


On-the-job training will take place at the Institute for Textile Technology, supplemented by courses and training at the RWTH Aachen Vocational Training Center.

The academic training will be conducted at the Vocational College for Design and Technology in the city of Aachen, located at Neuköllner Straße 15, 52068 Aachen.
