This position requires 4 days in office located in Phoenix, Arizona.

Position Description:


Plays a crucial role in the development and implementation of software solutions within Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) and its affiliated entities.

Bridges the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensures that software projects meet the needs and objectives of the business.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with stakeholders, such as business leads across departments to understand their software needs, and with project managers, technical teams, and endusers, to define project requirements.
  • Conducts interviews, workshops, and analyses to gather and analyze business pain points and requirements, effectively forming a Business Requirements document or Vendor Scorecard.
  • Fully analyzes and documents the four areas of requirements: Use cases, User Interface, Functional/nonfunctional requirements, reporting and data requirements.
  • With a focus on thirdparty SaaS software, researches solutions that fit requirements, including existing tools within the organization to repurpose software as much as possible, gathers highlevel functionality and costs to help the business determine which products should be assessed and best fit the business needs.
  • When inhouse development is needed, collaborates with software architects, designers, and developers to design software solutions that align with business requirements.
  • Creates comprehensive requirements documents, including wireframes, current state, and future state process flows to facilitate configuration or development, and ensure a common understanding among stakeholders of how the business processes will integrate with the software.
  • Analyzes existing business processes and workflows to identify areas for improvement and automation.
  • Documents asis and tobe process flows, identifies gaps, redundancies, and opportunities for optimization.
  • Trains end users on how to create test scenarios from requirements documentation. Works with Learning and Development to clarify how the tool will be used and the important features to help create training materials for the organization. Occasionally, creates training materials for internal department use (e.g., IT Service desk).
  • Translates business requirements into clear and concise functional and nonfunctional requirements.
  • Defines system features, user stories, acceptance criteria, and use cases to guide software configuration or development activities.
  • Acts as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, facilitates effective communication, and ensures a clear understanding of requirements.
  • Manages stakeholder expectations, addresses concerns, and provides regular updates on the requirements gathering progress.
  • Gathers any new requirements for the current implementation or future enhancements throughout the project life cycle.
  • Collaborates with project managers as requirements are defined with the business as an input to the timeline.
  • Coauthors scope change requests with the PM with requirements definition for changes requested.
  • Collaborates with Quality Assurance on the transition from planning to testing.
  • Creates a traceability matrix and validates with QA that the requirements coverage has been met.
  • Provides input and reviews on test plans, test cases, and test scripts to validate software functionality and ensures it meets the defined requirements.
  • Collaborates with QA teams to identify and resolve defects and issues when requirements are in question.
  • Responsible for analyzing and documenting the continuously improving Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (Workday). Utilizes ERP integration methodologies to map business processes to ERP modules, working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) on solutions.
  • Stays updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to the software development life cycle and business analysis.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and innovative solutions within the EPMO related to Business Analysis.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of proven experience as a business analyst in software development projects.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, such as Agile or Scrum.
  • Proficiency in requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation techniques.
  • Has knowledge of ERP language and modules for HR and Finance systems; Workday experience preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with stakeholders at various levels.
