As a First Officer, you will lead in operational excellence and guest services aboard our vessels.

This role requires leadership, technical skills, a dedication to safety and environmental stewardship, and the ability to take command under unforeseen circumstances.

You'll mentor deckhands, oversee operations, and ensure our vessels offer a safe and engaging environment for guests.

The right person will be adaptable, energetic, and represent STARSHIP Culture.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide guidance and training to Deckhands, promoting high standards of safety, cleanliness, and guest service.
  • Assist the Captain in vessel operations, including navigation, communication with other vessels, and emergency command if needed.
  • Direct and handle mooring operations, ensuring secure docking, and undocking procedures.
  • Monitor deck areas and guests to maintain safety during tours and events.
  • Undertake maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs, ensuring vessels meet the highest standards of presentation and operation.
  • Perform lookout duties, ensuring safe navigation and monitoring for potential hazards.
  • Facilitate guest boarding and disembarking, managing ticket validation and collection.
  • Participate in security duties, including passenger screening and vessel security sweeps.
  • Assist with operational procedures such as water filling, fuel bunkering, sewage handling, and shore power connections.
  • Lead in achieving and maintaining the highest levels of quality, professionalism, performance, and productivity.
  • Conduct crew training, promote continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Participate in safety meetings, drills, and audits as required by USCG and company policy.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of shipboard safety procedures and equipment.
  • Report all injuries, illnesses, and near misses in a timely manner.
  • Additional job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; additional maritime certifications preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Deckhand.
  • Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC Card).
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) license.
  • Strong navigation, boat handling skills, and familiarity with navigational instruments.
  • Excellent communication, customer service skills, and ability to interact effectively with guests and team members.
  • Physical fitness for manual tasks, emergency responses, and varied weather conditions work.
  • Availability for flexible work schedules, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.

$25.00 per hour

  • Evening shift
  • Holidays
  • Monday to Friday
  • Night shift
  • Weekends as needed
  • Weekends only
