Science Instructors - Providence, United States - Rhode Island College
Description
The Rhode Island College Upward Bound Program is a federally funded program for rising 10, 11, and 12-grade college-bound high school students.
The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the high school graduation, college-going, and college graduation rates of program participants.
Introduction to the Summer:
During the summer program, we focus on building a community that has high expectations for academic achievement, personal development, behavior, and student accountability.
The students will be living in a residence hall and supervised by a team of tutor counselors and program advisors.
They will be taking high school courses in literature and writing, mathematics, science, SAT prep, STEM, dance, and foreign language.
In addition to these courses, the students will have the opportunity to participate in recreational, social, cultural activities, and field trips.
The Program seeks individuals who can commit to expected timeframes and support our philosophy, mission, and the Code of Conduct (document to be provided if offered an interview).
Overview of Science Courses:
The curriculum and learning objectives must align to the Next Generation Science Standards.
Innovative teaching approaches will be used to introduce and reinforce key concepts, improve scientific reasoning skills, and boost students' confidence to pursue higher-level courses in science and mathematics.
Laboratory sessions will be conducted as scheduled, and students will demonstrate an understanding of related experimental design, inquiry, and data collection analysis by developing formal laboratory reports.
