About the Opportunity:
Brown University's
School of Professional Studies
(SPS) brings a Brown education to new audiences of learners: those focused on development of skills and a breadth of knowledge necessary for professional success and leadership. We leverage Brown's intellectual centers of excellence, rigorous teaching, and developmental approach to learning in a range of programs, including serving students outside of traditional degree programs. We partner with Brown departments, centers, institutes, and schools to develop degree and non-degree programs, and to support the recruitment, retention, and placement success of master's students, including traditional, non-traditional, and professional students.

The Communications Specialist will be responsible for:
- Developing engaging content (written, visual and video) across a variety of school and program-level initiatives
- Building and maintaining editorial and social media content calendars and ensuring timely execution for posting/publishing
- Collaborating with colleagues within SPS and across the University to promote stories and generate new content for various audiences
- Maintaining Brown and SPS' visual identity, editorial standards, and social media best practices
Qualifications:
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, English, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or similar
- 3+ years content creation, communications, marketing or related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- Superb writing, editing, proofreading and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in social media management and knowledge of best practices and trends
- Understanding of KPIs for content
- Excellent organization, project management and content production skills involving the execution of multiple, simultaneous projects
- Ability to meet stringent deadlines, work effectively and troubleshoot in a highvolume, everchanging work environment
- Working knowledge of Google Suite
- Willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community
- Experience working with Slate or other CRM systems
- Experience with vendor management
- Understanding of search engine optimization tactics
- Experience with layout/design programs such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign)
- Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
Preferred:
- Experience working with online degrees and nontraditional, professional student population
- Experience working with international students
- Experience working with graduate student population
