    Job Summary

    Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Oversees and leads all financial and reporting aspects of the "parent" grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation as well as all components from partnering organizations.
  • Responsible for all research administration, oversight, and compliance for new and current grants.
  • Serves as the liaison between IU and the partner organizations.
  • Oversees and manages all meetings that involve partner organizations from around the country.
  • Responsible for rebuilding, extending, and maintaining the AMFDP website and its content, with attention to aspects that are lacking in the current website: accessibility and compliance with ADA guidelines, a secure password-protected area for Scholars, links to external content, library of training modules, additional content.
  • Serves as the program manager for the AMFDP program that involves coordinating a complex, highly visible national consortium. Creates guidelines, policies, and tracking systems.
  • Serves as a decision maker on applying developed guidelines and policies, creates and maintains a complex and robust alumni database, oversees and leads initiatives involving external partnerships and funding, oversees external communication activities, etc.
  • Serves as decision maker on program management issues and items including national meeting contracts, program operational decisions with national partners, and expense/budget management.
  • Provides decision making authority as it relates to AMFDP awardees as well as alumni relations.
  • Oversees production of educational content.
  • Serves as key liaison with IU partners IU Foundation and IU Health.
  • Works closely with and make decisions beyond IU with partner organizations from around the country including the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
  • Serves as 1 of the key decisions makers for the program that impacts a robust national consortium and training program.
  • Influences others, across institutional lines, to accomplish program goals.
  • Develops and makes presentations at national meetings.
  • Identifies, hires, and supervises part-time and temporary staff.
  • General Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs and implements programs or events, including the creation of materials to support these events.
  • Provides staff communications and serves as liaison to program participants, collaborators in other units, community partners, vendors and the public; approves staff purchase requests; arranges staff travel, accommodations, and research activities.
  • Provides mechanisms, training, and advice on a variety of issues such as budget management software and advanced strategies for timely spending of grant funds. May be responsible for meeting revenue targets.
  • Recruits, trains, directs, schedules, and evaluates faculty and staff partners, students and volunteers. Mentors, serves as a resource and provides guidance to team staff members as needed.
  • Researches available grants and works closely with managers to identify funding needs and potential sources, creates grant proposals that further advance support of the program and program participants; May be responsible for meeting revenue targets.
  • Constructs and administers program budgets and approves spending. Tracks progress on deliverables, analyzes data on projected spending and prepares reports for higher management and funding sources.
  • Keep abreast of best practices to recommend policies and procedures that deliver a quality program experience.

  • Working Conditions / Demands

    This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

    May require some travel.
