GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Assembly Packer position will ensure that packing/ assembling requirements are fulfilled in accordance with the production schedule, and verifies and monitors that materials used and the assembled product meets product and process specifications.
Employees within this classification perform all duties and responsibilities associated within assigned team; focusing on the goals, objectives and priorities of the facility.
Employees must also be capable of moving between departments within a plant on immediate notice, and between plants with 48 hours' notice.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs manual and semimanual packing duties. Independently performs basic machine adjustments and set ups. Gathers needed materials for production and prepackaging materials, relieves minor jams; feeds, counts, stacks and replenishes various packaging materials, finished stock and work in process.
- Follows standard work methods including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and practice safe work habits to ensure production is efficient and safe. Continually inspects for quality in accordance with established procedures. Removes and replaces all nonstandard items prior to completion of operation. Maintains accurate records on production, materials used, and other information required.
- Must be able to successfully perform job duties of other classification(s) (operator, material handler, or processor) to assist as needed. See specific job description for other classification job requirements, duties, responsibilities, and physical requirements.
- Learn jobs and duties as an Assembly Packer employee and participate in team problem solving to strive for continuous improvement. Must work in a team environment and take day to day direction from assigned leader or coordinator.
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition in accordance 5s/5m and standard operating procedures.
- Follows standard operating procedures for inventory control and accuracy by utilizing Warehouse Management System.
- Train temporary workforce in daily operations as required.
- Complies with Federal and State hazardous waste regulations including proper handling, storing, labeling, and familiarity with Crayola Emergency Action Procedure in the event of a spill or leak.
- In accordance with Crayola's Desired Culture, must actively participate in Team Development and Continuous Improvement initiatives by attending meetings, communicating information, and providing input.
- Performs all other work as directed by the team manager, and/or as needed by the team to meet objectives.
- Learn and operate to the standards of the Crayola Operating System.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- 12 years of experience in manufacturing, warehousing or similar repetitive assembly experience preferred.
- Must be able to perform all physical requirements of the job (listed below).
- Must be able to become forklift certified (standup and sit down lifts)
- Must be competent in basic math skills including: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages and fractions.
- Must have a good command of the English language, both written and verbal.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Must have the ability to work alone with minimum supervision/direction.
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:

- Regularly stand, walk, see, bend, climb, push, pull, reach, and grasp.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
