Description:


The Diocese of San Diego is seeking a qualified, experienced and passionate preschool teacher who is deeply committed to developing Christ-centered, forward-thinking leaders to serve our future Church and our world.

Corpus Christi Catholic Preschool is a parish school located in Bonita, California.

The person selected for this position will be responsible for the general supervision and management of a class of twelve to twenty-four children between the ages of two to five.


The person selected for this position must be professionally prepared as a teacher of young children, especially in the field of early childhood education.

This person must be a sensitive and mature individual who is able to relate well to both children and adults.

This person must meet the licensing requirements and the preschool education requirements which include a minimum of 12 units of E.C.E.

at an accredited college and two years of classroom experience working directly with young children.

This person does not need be Catholic but must be comfortable teaching from the Catholic perspective.

They also must have the ability to be a role model in attitude, speech and actions towards others by following the teachings of the church.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Planning, supervising, and implementing the program for the class in accordance with the policies and philosophy of Corpus Christi Preschool.
  • Reporting and working closely with your Team Teacher.
  • Gearing the program to the needs of individual children with concerns for their interests, handicaps, special talents, and individual style and pace of learning.
  • Considering individual children in relationship to their cultural and socioeconomic background.
  • Treating children with dignity and respect, making them feel important.
  • Helping children to become aware of their roles as integral members of a group.
  • Being responsible for the ordered arrangement, appearance, décor and learning environment of the classroom, with the help and guidance of the director.
  • Attending all staff meetings, faculty meetings and other school sponsored programs.
  • Ongoing communication with personnel and working as a team to ensure the high quality of care given at preschool.
  • Participating in recommended training programs, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth.
  • Implementing methods for effectively utilizing the services of the classroom assistants and volunteers.
  • Conducting parent/ teacher conferences as needed.

Curriculum

  • Leading a class of fifteen to twentyfour children with the assistance of an instructional aide or Team Teacher.
  • Completing monthly lesson plans in all core areas and preparing the materials required to implement the plans.
  • Maintain the parent board.
  • Taking daily attendance.
  • Planning daily circle time activities including bible stories, colors, shapes, numbers and letters and meal talks.
  • Create a varied and stimulating environment.
  • Decorating and changing the bulletin boards and other classroom spaces.
  • Implementing appropriate discipling guidelines based on the school's philosophy.
  • Posting a daily schedule for prek classes for Line Leader, plant helper etc.

Playground

  • Responsible for constant supervision of the children to ensure their safety.
  • Assist children in understanding playground rules.
  • Complete accident/ injury reports when a child is hurt.
  • Encourage children to try all areas of play such as wood working, painting, sensory tables.

Health and Safety

  • Daily health observation of children.
  • Ensuring the safety of the children by constant supervision, effective arrangement of space and proper set up and maintenance of equipment.
  • Report all injuries, especially head injuries, to the director.
  • Understand the school's fire drill and disaster procedures and teach children "stop, drop and roll" and "drop, cover, hold on."
  • Inform Director of any medical alert situation with children such as bee stings or allergic reactions.
  • Responsible for remaining on campus for up to 72 hours after an earthquake or other disaster until all children have been picked up.

Professional

  • Communicate with parents in a kind, patient and respectful way helping them to understand their child's growth and development.
  • Inform parents of school and parish activities.
  • Maintain a professional attitude of confidentiality and loyalty to the school.
  • Work as a team player to ensure a healthy, happy and respectful atmosphere for the children and adults.
  • Continue professional growth by attending classes and workshops.
  • Continue spirit
