The Village of Palatine Human Resources Department is seeking a Human Resources Generalist.


This is a professional position reporting to the Human Resources Director, responsible for benefits administration including health and life insurance plans, flexible spending plan, deferred compensation and other pension plan programs, on-boarding and off-boarding of employees and general support to the Human Resources department.


Essential Job Functions:


  • Administers annual Open Enrollment of health benefits by coordinating annual benefits newsletter to benefiteligible employees, set up of open enrollment in software, and other correspondence to retirees, COBRA participants, and responds to employee questions related to benefit programs.
  • Administers the provision of the health insurance, life insurance, section 125, deferred compensation, and IMRF plans and programs. Refers health plan claim appeals to plan administrator.
  • Assists departments with hiring and conducts new employee orientation to ensure new employees complete paperwork, receive benefits information.
  • Communicates, and monitors policies, procedures, and standards for area of specialization; recommends improvements and revisions when necessary.
  • Generates narrative and statistical reports and correspondence for benefits, compensation, and any other required reports.
  • Organizes internal Wellness Committee using available resources to encourage development of wellness initiatives throughout the organization.
  • Coordinates the input and flow of data in the human resources information system, including payroll.

Qualifications:

Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in the role of employee benefits including prior experience.

A bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, public administration, or a related field, or the equivalent experience is required.

Certification through HRCI, SHRM or IFEBP preferred. Public sector experience is a plus.


Starting Salary:
Hiring range of $75,000 to $105,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Includes an excellent benefits package including participation in Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF).


Hours:
Typical work week between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
