Cooper's Hawk runs the Community Café that services the corporate office building at 3500 Lacey Road in Downers Grove.

We are looking for a Café General Manager who can run all aspects of the café, which includes multiple hot and cold food stations, a made-to-order drink station, a grab-and-go refrigerated area with retail and a main level lobby bar that serves coffee, wine, breakfast items and snacks.

Upcoming offerings include executive team catering and expanded lunch service at the lobby café. We also look to expand our offerings in the café over time.


Hours of operation:
Monday: 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Tuesday: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Wednesday: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Thursday: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Friday: 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.


The Café General Manager is responsible for all aspects of the Café and Lobby Coffee & Wine Bar operations, to include oversight of food preparation and daily service, catering, and retail sales.

This person will manage approximately 10-15 team members.


Responsibilities:


  • Oversee all aspects of the café operations which include multiple food stations: Hot items, cold items, beverage station, refrigerated "grab and go" items, retails packaged goods area and catering.
  • Oversee all aspects of the coffee bar operations which include specialty coffee service, refrigerated "grab and go" items, wine and beer service, and take away snack items.
  • Manages approximately 12 hourly team members; Hire, train, schedule, develop and retain team members.
  • Ensure high quality food preparation according to defined recipe specifications and food quality and safety standards; oversee team member training on new recipes.
  • Forecast and plan for daily food preparations quantities.
  • Ensure workplace safety and cleanliness.
  • Ensure excellent customer interactions and service.
  • Manage vendor relationships; oversee ordering for food and beverage orders; oversee receiving and checkin of orders.
  • Provide active communication with other businesses who utilizes the kitchen space in the offhours/weekends. Cascade their usage to necessary parties.
  • Handle monthly wine inventory.
  • Responsible for Café and Lobby Bar P&L.
  • Other duties as required, which will include ability to support various stations, as needed.
  • Work directly with the R&D team and Supply Chain to receive products as needed.

Requirements:


  • Must represent Cooper's Hawk values
  • Minimum of 4 years of restaurant or kitchen management experience
  • Culinary education, preferred; Passionate about food; Experience with food preparation and recipe execution and upholding food quality and safety standards
  • Minimum age requirement of 21 years.
  • Ability to work an average of 5055 hours/week.
  • Previous team management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to read, understand and communicate in English
  • Demonstrates financial acumen
  • Strong customerservice skills
  • Ability to manage a fastpaced environment
  • Preferred certifications include Basset, ServSafe and IL licensing requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
