- Set up new clients and matters in the billing software.
- Ensures time records from attorneys are posted timely and accurately.
- Create month-end proformas and edit based on information from appropriate billing attorneys.
- Convert proformas to monthly invoices and mail/email to clients according to billing instructions.
- Maintain accurate and current billing instructions for all assigned clients and matters.
- Enter weekly client "soft costs" into billing system.
- Post daily cash receipts.
- Compile necessary reports for the executive committee.
- Monitor and manage outstanding client balances; preparing monthly aging reports, sending past due notices to clients, contacting clients in regards to past due invoices.
- Resolves billing inquiries from clients, attorneys and legal assistants.
- Completes special projects as assigned by supervisor.
- Minimum of a high school diploma with two years related billing or accounting work experience preferred.
- Attention to detail and ability to problem solve.
- Above average computer skills with an intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Good communication skills, verbal and written.
- High degree of accuracy and aptitude for math and figures.
- Ability to prioritize and plan work activities to maximize time efficiently.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to work in a professional environment.
- Positive customer service orientation.
- General knowledge of accounting and understanding of the general ledger accounts and how they relate to billing and collections.
