Headquartered in Farmington CT, with an additional full service office in Medford, Massachusetts, we cover New England and beyond.McPhee Electric, Ltd is actively seeking a Senior Substation Estimator for our Utilities Division located in Farmington, CT who will prepare estimates for projects involving utilities work & new substation construction.
In addition, you will provide technical, administrative support, RFQs for civil/building construction to project operations with emphasis on estimating, reporting and monitoring progress, planning and scheduling, and dealing with project estimate presentations.
Understand and execute labor and material take-offs for substation workUnderstand and monitor program of work to ensure estimates are completed prior to deadlinesParticipate in estimate review process with internal and external customersPrepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labor and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specificationsAdvise on quoting procedures, examine and analyze quotes, recommend quote awards and conduct negotiationsEstablish and maintain quoting process, set up cost monitoring, reporting systems and proceduresCoordinate RFQs packages with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, designers and architects regarding scopes of workAttend site visits as requiredObtain material pricing for estimatesPrepare project cost breakdowns on estimatesCoordinate and assist in getting subcontractor quotes as neededPrepare complete cost estimates for utility work and new substation construction projectsCoordinate the assembly of estimate turnover once awardedPrepare in project turnover meeting once awardedRequired minimum skills and experienceBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Construction Management is preferred5 years working experience around or in substations10+ years of experience in the Utility Industry and/or possessing minimum 5-10 years estimating experience and knowledge of utility projects and new substation construction is requiredMust possess experience in understanding blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time/cost/labor estimates for projects and servicesMust be capable using MS applications (Word, Excel and Accubid Estimating Software)Organizational, leadership, communication, and analytical skills are requiredAbout our CompanyMcPhee Electric, Ltd is owned by our holding company, Phalcon, Ltd.
