PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To provide a safe, secure and comfortable environment for youth, employees and visitors of Mercy Home for Boys & Girls.
To perform all receptionist and security related duties.ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Security experience preferred.
- Experience in reception or customer service preferred.
- Ability to monitor activity and security cameras and detect and appropriately act on security issues.
- Ability to interact effectively with the all employees, youth, residents' families, volunteers and the general public.
- Ability to display professional appearance, a pleasant disposition, and helpful attitude.
- Excellent customer service interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in PC systems, including Microsoft Word as well as the ability to become proficient in other software packages and programs (such as Security Software).
- Ability to read and write detailed reports. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to maintain professional demeanor while exercising judgment and discretion in work.
- Ability to lift to occasionally lift, carry and put away parcels weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to attend required Agency trainings and maintain necessary training compliance including CPR, First Aid and AED training.
- Maturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences.
- Commitment to the mission, values, and goals of the Agency.
- Ability to see, hear and speak clearly.
- Ability to remain calm and patience in stressful situations.
- Regular and predictable attendance including holidays, weekends and overnight shifts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide security coverage for the schedule provided or as needed.
- Monitor all security camera monitors for suspicious activity and take appropriate action.
- Be able to operate the gates remotely.
- Prepare security reports for shifts worked commenting on 1) security of all doors and windows 2) physical condition of campus 3) suspicious people or activities, etc.
- Be a helpful, courteous and professional representative of Mercy Home for Boys & Girls, demonstrating crosscultural sensitivity and discretion.
- Greet visitors, check them in following Agency procedures, and call staff to receive and escort their guests.
- Accept all phone calls promptly and transfer to appropriate extension, or provide information in response to inquiries about the Agency.
- Call police or fire department when appropriate, such as for fire, thefts, robberies, suspicious activity, altercations on campus, etc.
- Maintain dialogue with Residential Programs staff regarding youth curfews, AWOL youth, and other youthrelated concerns.
- Issue and track all Agency keys and van credit cards.
- Accept all packages, and donated items and label them appropriately.
- Assist and track any employee purchases delivered to the front desk and log in and out packages on a daily basis.
