Description

Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager II, the Staff Services Manager I (Specialist) (SSM I) is responsible for managing the department's Performance Management (PM) and Progressive Discipline (PD) Program.

The SSM I serves as the department's Subject Matter Expert (SME) and independently performs the most complex and/or sensitive disciplinary assignments, including addressing management inquires and/or administrative investigations; participating in settlement negotiations; providing consultation and training to DCA managers and supervisors on PM / PD issues and personnel actions; and participating in the Department's Workplace Violence Assessment Team.

In addition, the SSM I develops processes and guidelines, identifies process improvement, makes recommendations to management, and develops internal and external training related to performance management and progressive discipline.
