Summary
The Teller I reports to the Branch Manager. This position provides service to Bank customers by conducting appropriate transactions and meeting the needs of customers. Process deposits and pay out funds in accordance with Bank policies. Record all transactions accurately and balance each day's operations.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Receive cash and checks for deposits, verifies amounts and looks for check endorsements.
  • Examine checks deposited and determines proper funds availability based on regulation requirements and complete Hold notices.
  • Process savings withdrawals.
  • Cash checks, verify endorsements, receive proper identification, and ensure validity.
  • Examine cash carefully to identify counterfeit currency.
  • Answer basic customer inquiries regarding service charges and account history, while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations, and consumer privacy practices.
  • Crosssell bank products and services.
  • Refer customers to the proper departments for issues that cannot be resolved at the teller line.
  • Count and roll loose coin.
  • Issue cashier's checks.
  • Accept loan payments, verify payment amount, and issue receipts.
  • Buy and sell currency from the vault as necessary, ensuring that teller drawer cash limits are not exceeded.
  • Prove/settle individual's cash supply on a daily basis.
  • Process transactions through the VIE Sierra back counter machine.
  • Handle mail, night deposits, and ATM settlement under dual control.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Certificate
  • Minimum 6 months retail cash handling and/or customer service experience

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


Physical Demands


Physical demand level - Medium: with lifting, bending, stooping, walking or standing for extended periods of time, some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a seven and one-half or ten-hour shift.

Physical requirements also include the ability to see, hear, and do repetitive motion. Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 lbs. during a seven and one-half hour or ten-hour shift.
