Description

The Center for Diabetes Technology at the University of Virginia is seeking a Research Technician to assist with trials centering around diabetes.

Shifts will be variable in time and location and may include weekend, evening, or daytime hours. Most shifts will involve patient contact. Incumbent must be able to follow HIPAA guidelines regarding patient health information and be reliable and detail oriented.

Other duties may include but not limited to:

  • Monitoring and troubleshooting a computer system, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Android phone during a clinical trial.
  • Data maintenance, which may involve compiling, coding, categorizing, and storing data in an electronic format.
  • Handling and processing lab specimens.
  • Organizing, setting up, and cleaning study devices
Compensation range $15-18/ per hour depending on incumbent experience.

The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment. This position will require an Education, Drug Screen, Health Screen.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:
At least 1 year of lab experience, which may include student experience.
Bachelor's degree will be considered in lieu of experience.


Licensure:
None


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. Also requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring finer finger manipulation.
