Position Summary:
Directs activities of workers engaged in operating and maintaining facilities by performing the following duties.
-
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages the Assistant Head Custodian and two Lead Custodians and supervises all custodians. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of custodial and set-up work. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.- Supervise and evaluate all custodial staff and set-up crew for all three shifts in coordination with the Director of Buildings and Grounds, Building Manager and Assistant Head Custodian.
- Train all staff on proper cleaning methods and equipment usage, "right to know" training and other relevant training.
- Participates in the hiring process, and the decision to retain employees beyond the 90 day probation period.
- Responsible for appropriate discipline action with Custodial staff in a timely manner.
- Responsible for outlining and coordinating summer work and summer custodial staff.
- Responsible for scheduling staff, approving and scheduling overtime, approving and scheduling vacation time.
- Responsible for monitoring attendance.
- Responsible for assigning shift work for custodians, sets daily cleaning schedules and checklists.
- Maintains equipment and supplies, reorders as required and keeps inventory.
- Responsible for reporting any necessary repairs to the Building Manager and Director of Buildings and Grounds.
- Conducts daily inspections and is responsible for overall cleanliness of the school building.
- Responsible for the building readiness and setup for daily instruction, meetings, school activities, events and equipment furniture moving.
- Responsible for meeting with appropriate persons prior to major events to assess and coordinate set up needs.
- Makes Board deliveries if needed.
- Operates the PA system if needed.
- Responsible for assisting the Fire Department when a fire alarm has sounded.
- Required to work weekends and flexible shifts.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned or as required.
