Driver

Summary
Drives, loads and unloads donated furniture, appliances and other household items to thrift stores.


Essential Functions

  • Promotes a Safety-First workplace culture; understands that safety is a priority; practices safe behavior in all duties.
  • Represents and supports the AMVETS brand at all times; maintains a professional appearance and adheres to dress code policy.
  • Operates box van to pickup and deliver donated items including furniture, appliances and other household items to the thrift stores.
  • Abides by local, state, and federal driving regulations.
  • Pads, stacks, and properly secures items for transportation and unloading.
  • Utilizes proper safety equipment to move furniture and cartons.
  • Records transactions on customer donation receipt and records pick up and/or delivery information on daily records.
  • Adheres to the restricted donation items list.
  • Performs recycling deliveries.
  • Performs marketing activities to solicit donations.
  • Listens to and resolves service complaints.
  • Unloads donations and categorizes per company standard.
  • Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of vehicle, and maintains equipment.

Work Environment


The job is performed inside and outside of a vehicle with exposure to various weather conditions, noise from traffic, dust/dirt, other airborne particles, fumes and odors.

The position requires entering and exiting the vehicle cabin, climbing into the back of the box van, and climbing steps.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is frequently required to sit, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a variable-hour position. Days and hours of work will vary Sunday through Saturday, 6:00am to 8:00pm


Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or high school equivalency certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One or more years of related experience.

Pay:
$18.80 per hour

Expected hours: 37.50 per week
