    Location: Boston, MA

    Duration: months (High Possibility of Further Extensions)

    The Quality Assurance Lead will be responsible for ensuring compliance demonstration, quality assurance, and defect resolution for the new fare system in a hands-on manner from day 1. They will take charge of the test strategy, oversee the vendor's progress towards meeting contractual requirements, manage QA activities, supervise test development and execution, handle defect prioritization, and ensure proper maintenance of test equipment by the vendor. The role involves working with various technical components such as fare collection devices, vending machines, payments technology, website and mobile applications, customer support software, retail solutions, APIs, system integrations, tap processing, and information security.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead the test strategy, balancing priorities like test coverage, quality, competing demands, and project schedule.
    • Track, measure, and report progress on test identification, writing, and execution, as well as defect resolution.
    • Identify system-wide issues, inefficiencies, risks, and improvement opportunities, collaborating with leads and vendors to address them.
    • Manage the review and execution of test scripts by the vendor.
    • Conduct ad hoc testing independently in lab and field settings.
    • Collaborate with leads on test script adjustments due to design changes and test finding implications.
    • Monitor vendor compliance with contractual requirements.
    • Evaluate ways to demonstrate compliance and review certifications and waiver requests.
    • Manage the compliance matrix tracking vendor progress against 7,000+ contractual requirements.
    • Handle defect reporting, prioritization, tracking, and validation.
    • Explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders, detailing impact on users and operations.
    • Track feature and bugfix deployment, ensuring vendor accountability for lab equipment.

    Skills Needed

    • Five (5) years of experience in quality assurance, vendor management, and/or technology design/testing/implementation/operation.
    • Experience with developing, implementing, and overseeing test plans and reports.
    • Ability to understand and apply rules, regulations, policies, and technical requirements.
    • Strong organizational, analytical, time management, and interpersonal skills with attention to detail.
    • Familiarity with online collaboration and tracking tools like Slack, Asana, Jira, etc.
    • Effective communication within a diverse workforce.

    Preferences

    • Deep knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
    • Experience in software testing, front-end, back-end, and integrations.
    • Background in quality assurance for specialized devices and hardware.
    • Experience with performance and security testing.
    • Work history in transportation, government agency, or payment technology.
    • Expertise in defining, writing, and enforcing technical requirements.
