$24.61) based on 37.5 hours weekly schedule
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works with 10-12 assigned families and children on a scheduled one-to-one weekly basis in their homes for at least 90 minutes minimum. Caseload can vary based on program needs.
- Assists families in identifying family resources and needs.
- Maintains confidentiality of family records and information.
- Encourages and promotes the family's achievement of self-sufficiency.
- Provides developmental, mental health, and nutritional screening and assessment of children to determine the need for further evaluation, referrals or intervention.
- Works with parent to develop weekly home visit and weekly activity plans based on each child's assessment and identified family needs.
Parent Involvement:
- Assists parents in developing and fostering healthy self-concepts for themselves and, having begun this effort will begin assisting parents in becoming the prime family educator.
- Fosters the belief in parents that they are their child's first teacher and reinforces this concept with practical suggestions for its development.
- Provides home activities that are identified in the curriculum and lesson plan and provided to the parents to continue working with their children at home.
Social Service/ Mental Health:
- Provides or guides family through a family assessment process to assist in determining areas for family or personal growth.
- Makes referrals to community services offices such as family planning, food stamps, employment, health services, vocational rehabilitation, psychological services, etc.
Education:
- Assists parents in developing ways of using household resources in educational activities with their children.
- Provides parents and children with group socialization experiences.
Health:
- Assists families when necessary in the arrangement and transportation of medical and dental appointments as required by Head Start, including designated follow-ups.
- Must plan one nutrition activity at least once each month during a home visit.
- Conducts health and safety checks on each home visit.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience/Education
- A.A. Degree. B.A. degree preferred in child development, early childhood education or psychology.
- Six (6) units in infant/toddlers highly preferred.
- Two years experience of home visitation, early childhood services, early head start setting.
Pay:
$45, $48,000.00 per year
