***: This position encompasses comprehensive oversight of the Kids Central area, including facility management, staff supervision, programming coordination, and risk assessment. The primary aim is to provide a safe and engaging environment for children, members, and guests of the Madison Area YMCA. Additionally, it involves planning, organizing, and executing a diverse range of social events tailored specifically for Active Older Adults. Duties include providing quality member service to members and guests, managing Kids Central service operations, addressing inquiries, and performing various clerical tasks.


Primary Responsibilities

Kids Central

  • With the Kids Central Supervisor, recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule, and supervise Kids Central staff and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Supervise Kids Central staff to ensure safety and engagement expectations are being met. Assist Shift Leaders with scheduling of staff. Ensure all shifts are covered. Complete biannual audit of scheduled shifts and member usage in order to best serve the members with the most efficient use of staff.
  • Plan, lead, and organize the implementation of activities and familybased programs.
  • Assists Member Services Director in developing the Kids Central Budget, monitoring monthly revenue and expenses, and developing strategies for meeting the budgetary goals.
  • Maintain discipline and order in accordance with Madison Area YMCA policies and guidelines. Ensure Kids Central staff are doing the same.

Active Older Adult Social Event Coordinator

  • Establishes longterm relationships with active older adult members.
  • Initiates, develops, plans, promotes, and facilitate senior social programs, lectures, special events.
  • Works closely with all YMCA staff in the area of Active Older Adult programming, development, marketing and program.
  • Manages budget as related to all Active Older Adult events.
  • Assists in membership promotions/campaigns as it relates to Seniors in the community.

Member engagement skills:


  • Be knowledgeable about program areas and share information with members.
  • Be knowledgeable about the YMCA, its programs, and policies.
  • Encourage participation in facility and program orientations.
  • Acquaint members with other YMCA programs and benefits.
  • Recommend participation in a variety of Y programs.
  • Be able to articulate the YMCA's Mission, values, benefits.
  • Actively participate in the annual campaign.
  • Be able to articulate the role and importance of volunteering.
  • Be informed about volunteer opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Management experience in a childcare and/or senior service setting.
  • Enjoy, be skilled at and understand the importance of building relationships with people: members, staff, volunteers, donors, and community leaders.
  • High degree of accuracy with information provided.
  • Multitask oriented; effective organizational skills and able to take initiative.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and problemsolve.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.

WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment where multitasking is necessary.
  • Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
  • The employee is required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard and use a telephone.
  • Position may require bending, leaning, and walking.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to view computer monitors.
  • Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
  • May have exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
