- Organize and lead classes in specialty fields for various age groups
- Act as a subject matter expert and train subordinates within a specialty field

- Operate specialized equipment, obtain class supplies, and provide technical guidance
- Maintain class control, handle complaints, and ensure participant safety
- Administer program budgets and contracts, prepare reports, and attend meetings

Hayward Area Recreation and Park District, also known as "H.A.R.D.," is a distinct special use district established to deliver park and recreation amenities for over 309,000 residents. Covering a 100 square-mile area, including the City of Hayward and adjacent communities, the District manages 135+ parks and facilities. Our goal is to enhance our community's quality of life by offering various recreation activities, parks, and facilities that endorse health, learning, and enjoyment.
About the Position:
ROLE SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director, the Recreation Specialist II handles intricate, specialized recreation program tasks; supervises recreational programs catering to specific age groups and interests; creates program/course content; conducts classes and trains subordinates within a specialized area including officiating, unique instructional classes or workshops, security, special projects, and more.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position involves indoor and outdoor settings, working both independently and as part of a team. Potential exposure to varied environments, including high noise levels and inclement weather.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
