The Director of the Center for Healthy Living serves as the administrative lead for the Center for Healthy Living, which serves as the hub for student counseling, student health and wellness, and nutrition for the Long Island University Post Campus. The Director supervises all full-time, part-time, and interns within the department. The Director is a member of the Student Affairs Leadership and serves in an advisory and on-call capacity for all student emergencies and issues.
Principal Responsibilities:
Overall management of the daily operations of LIU Center for Healthy Living to ensure exceptional student support of Long Island University students.
Provide administrative supervision and oversight of medical, counseling, and nutritional services.
Plans and leads Departmental Staff Meetings, regular case assignment meetings.
Serves as a member of the Student Affairs Student Success Team and Campus Behavioral Assessment Team.
Provide clinical supervision for the professional counseling staff and interns.
Serve as the University Liaison to campus health partners, including, Riland Medical Center, Northwell Health, and Brooklyn Hospital.
Serves as an on-call administrator for mental health counseling and student emergencies for all Long Island University students.
Serves as a mental health counselor, providing direct counseling and crisis intervention services to students.
Provides support, guidance, and counsel to all University staff and administrators across LIU campuses.
Oversees the implementation of a robust Health and Wellness Programming Calendar.
Develops plans for the continuing improvement of office procedures and the implementation of new technologies and operational functionalities.
Oversees the University compliance with New York State Health and Immunization policies and practices.
Recruits and hires departmental staff in consultation with the Dean of Students.
Develop, implement and oversee campus outreach programs for the campus community.
Lead the weekly professional skills development seminar for counseling staff.
Collaborate with campus partners to provide exceptional student support, including, LIU Promise, Enrollment Services, Athletics, Public Safety, Academic Affairs, Learning Centers, etc.
Ensure Center for Healthy Living provides superior customer service to all students and families in person or via phone for all their educational needs.
Complete regular assessment of the Center for Healthy Living, including providing monthly, semester, and annual reports to Student Affairs and University Assessment Teams.
Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Students.
Education Requirements:
Advanced Degree in counseling/clinical psychology, counseling, or equivalent.
Five to seven years of experience in a clinical/counseling position.
Supervisory and management experience is required.
Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience:
Experience with the young adult and adult population.
Clinical supervisory experience and administrative supervisory experience in both counseling and medical settings.
Working Conditions:
Flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, are required to execute the position's role responsibly.
