- Oversee inbound freight operations, including planning, coordination, and execution of transportation activities to meet delivery targets.
- Collaborate with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure smooth and timely transportation of goods, considering cost, service, and quality standards.
- Monitor and track inbound shipments to ensure on-time delivery and resolve any transportation-related issues or delays.
- Analyze transportation data and metrics to identify opportunities for cost reduction, route optimization, and process improvement.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with carriers, ensuring compliance with company policies and expectations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers and suppliers, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
- Continuously assess and improve transportation processes to enhance efficiency, reduce transportation costs, and mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including purchasing, inventory, and warehouse teams, to optimize supply chain activities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of transportation activities, including carrier profiles, freight rates, and shipment documentation.
- Stay updated with relevant transportation regulations, industry trends, and best practices to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Proven working experience as an Inbound Transportation Specialist or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of inbound transportation operations, including carrier management, freight negotiation, and route optimization techniques.
- Excellent analytical skills to interpret transportation data, identify trends, and recommend process improvements.
- Proficient in using transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant software applications.
- Strong communication skills to interact with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented, with exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Good understanding of transportation regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proactive attitude with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs. on occasion.
- Ability to sit at the computer for extended periods of time.
