Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our team.

As a Payroll and Benefit Specialist, you will be responsible for managing employee benefits programs and ensuring compliance with company policies and government regulations.

Your role will involve being the first point of contact for employee and manager inquiries, working closely with the HR team and providing guidance and support regarding benefit plans and programs.


Responsibilities:


  • Administer employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other voluntary benefits
  • Responsible for running and processing fullcycle payroll and all activities related to Canadian and US payroll (e.g. terminations, new hires, leaves, W2's, etc.)
  • Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations in HRIS systems
  • Collaborate with payroll department to ensure accurate deductions and contributions related to employee benefits
  • Assist employees with benefitrelated inquiries and provide guidance on plan options and eligibility requirements
  • Conduct regular audits of benefit data to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies
  • Coordinate open enrollment activities, including communication materials, presentations, and enrollment sessions
  • Stay uptodate with industry trends and regulations related to employee benefits
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new benefit programs or enhancements
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee information in accordance with company policies and legal requirements
  • Update monthly gas allowance spreadsheet and process monthly gas allowances
  • Provide support in the coordination of the company's disability (STD, LTD) and other leaves in a timely manner.
  • Assist with internal and external audits throughout the year
  • Process and administer other financial compensations or deductions (e.g. annual bonuses, severance pay, etc.)
  • Support month end and yearend processes and reporting requirements for HR and Payroll (Quebec annual reporting, WSIB BC WCB)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by HR and Payroll

Qualifications:

  • Canada & USA Payroll a must
  • Minimum 5 years of full cycle payroll experience using an inhouse system
  • Postsecondary education in accounting, business, payroll, human resources, or related field
  • Experience in defined benefit pension programs
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) required
  • Effective communication, qualityminded, conscientious and selfmotivated.

Experience:


  • Strong knowledge of benefit plans, including health insurance, retirement plans, and voluntary benefits
  • Proficiency in various payroll systems, including Dayforce/Ceridian, ADP Run, ADP, and Rippling
  • Input/audit employee changes and new hires into HRIS system as required.
  • Proficient in analyzing data, identifying trends, and making recommendations for improvement
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in managing benefit records and documentation
  • Oversees enrollment, terminations, updates and reconciliations for the companywide benefit and retirement programs; Group health, COBRA, 401K, RRSP
  • Knowledge of payroll management processes, including debits/credits and corporate accounting principles
  • Coordinate with HR about changes in payroll and ensure all relevant paperwork is in place for audit purposes.
  • Processing monthly Pay for Performance
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with employees at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information

Pay:
$53, $70,500.00 per year
