DISTRIBUTION CENTER ASSOCIATE

The Milwaukee Rescue Mission (MRM) is seeking a full-time Distribution Center Associate to provide support in our Distribution Center, assisting with the intake, processing, and distribution of "in-kind" donations.

There is physical labor involved in this role, including lifting, loading, unloading and climbing ladders to stock shelves.

This position may also be required to cover partial or full shifts in one of our clothing rooms or in the Visitor Lobby.


WORK SCHEDULE:
Full-time, Monday-Friday, 10:00am-6:00pm

Central Campus, 830 N 19th Street, Milwaukee, WI. 53233


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Distribution Center:
  • Greet and thank donors while carefully accepting their donations and providing a receipt
  • Courteously assist the donor in the removal of donated items from their vehicle
  • Sort, transport, inventory and recycle "inkind" donations (clothing, household & personal care items, seasonal supplies)
  • Ensure proper handling of all donations
  • Maintain area cleanliness and proper stocking of inventory in the work area
  • Perform other duties as assigned, to include occasional support in one of our clothing rooms and/or Visitor Lobby
  • Clothing Room (as needed):
  • Collect, sort, and process donated goods at a responsible pace and accurately record & distribute donations when covering full or partial shifts
  • Visitor Lobby (as needed):
  • Proactively greet, assist, and direct visitors, shelter guests and staff when covering full or partial shifts

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Warehouse, "inkind" donation and/or inventory/retail experience preferred
  • Mature Christian with a servant's heart who is able to relate well with others in a diverse population
  • Good customer service skills, outgoing and approachable with an enthusiastic, friendly and welcoming personality
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to write accurate receipts
  • Ability and willingness to follow instructions and to be a flexible, team player
  • Ability to make good decisions, to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Computer literacy and the ability to navigate inventory tracking software
  • Must be able to handle physical workload ability to stand for long periods of time, walking, stair & ladder climbing, kneeling, squatting, crouching, reaching, handling and gripping without difficulty, repetitive movement of both hands and arms, as well as frequent lifting or moving items with a maximum weight of 55lbs a short distance (ex: floor to shelf or cart), and pushing or pulling heavier items with the use of a cart or dolly.
