This role falls under the SEIU Local 500 - Provost & Enrollment Division's collective bargaining unit, which means your employment terms adhere to university policies and any collective bargaining agreements with American University. Job Description: Summary:

The Graphic Design Coordinator plays a key role in providing graphic design and creative services to promote the School of Public Affairs. Reporting to the Associate Director for Communications & Content, you will create design elements for various marketing campaigns, academic initiatives, and events at the School of Public Affairs.

Your responsibilities include designing digital, web, and print materials to support SPA's objectives, collaborating closely with the communications team to uphold SPA and American University's brand strategy.

Essential Functions:
  • Design Coordination:
    • Design and produce print materials like brochures, postcards, and posters for SPA's programs and events.
    • Collaborate with the Associate Director for creative direction, participate in team meetings, and contribute to multimedia projects.
    • Manage the entire design process from concept to completion.
  • Other duties as needed:
    • Assist the Director and Associate Director with administrative tasks as required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Salary Range: - $52,000-$60,000/year, commensurate with experience. Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in visual communication/graphic design or related field. 13 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree. 24 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in a University environment preferred.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
  • Ability to manage projects from start to finish.
  • Experience with design software, print production, and working under tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in MacOS, Adobe CC, and MS Office.
  • Actively seeking to enhance skills and stay updated on industry trends.
