The Governor's Office of Emergency Services (OES) is seeking to hire one student to actively contribute to the creation and enhancement of innovative solutions.

Under the guidance of the Enterprise Solutions Services team, this role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the effective utilization of data and technology in addressing emergency management challenges.


Conditions of
**Employment
This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.


UEI does not allow students to hold more than one UEI Job at a time, or work in more than one account per pay period.

UEI employees who are considering leaving their current UEI Student assistant position for a different UEI student assistant position should inform their supervisor in writing and provide at least a week's notice.

**Prerequisites

Must be a college student attending classes during the regular term (fall, spring, and winter, if applicable) at an accredited college or university.


Students must be enrolled in at least: six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduate students; four-semester units or six quarter units for graduate students.

Students declared major must match the major(s) listed in the job posting.

**Majors/Fields of Study
Information Management Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or related business/science/computer fields.

**Work Schedule
F lexible workdays and work hours, Monday - Friday, between 8 AM - 5 PM. The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor.

**Additional Work Schedule

Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 24 hours per workweek (Sunday - Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring, and summer).

**Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Experience with the use spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others. Excellent work ethic and attendance.**Preferred Qualifications
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Understanding of humancentered design and user experiences.
  • Proficiency in a diverse range of technologies needed for today's business environment such as Salesforce, Power Apps, Excel, Smartsheet, ArcGIS, Visio, Python, JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with data modeling and data visualization tools like Tableau and Power BI.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Problem solving skills to assist in identifying issues and proposing solutions.
  • Knowledge of basic statistical concepts and methods to support datadriven decisionmaking.
  • Awareness of standard concepts such as modularity, scalability, user needs, and other solution engineering best practices.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and data versioning best practices.
  • Any relevant certifications in software systems, data analysis, GIS, or related areas.

  • This role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the effective utilization of data and technology in addressing emergency management challenges. The student assistant will play a key role in crafting, testing, and documenting solutions, leveraging a diverse set of skills in solutions engineering, data analytics, and business analysis.**Physical Requirements

Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.

**Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office environment.
