Responsibilities:


Primary responsibilities:

  • Implements a standardized method for data entry and controlled vocabularies
  • Creates and maintains Crystal Reports files, using SQL, for all TMS modules
  • Ensures proper access, consistency, and use of the museum's collections management system, both internally and externally via eMuseum
  • Oversees database upgrades, schedules regular system testing, assists ITS with troubleshooting database issues, and performs regular data cleanup
  • Keeps current with/oversees all required database upgrades and executes staff/user training
  • Works with The Ringling's ITS Department to plan for the longterm storage, organization, backup systems, and preservation of digital assets
  • Leads the annual collections inventory process

As needed:

  • Works with appropriate stakeholders to keeps record of regularly scheduled maintenance of The Ringling's James Turrell Skyspace "Joseph's Coat" and ensures that the piece is in continued compliance with the artist's intentions and commission contract
  • Implements and/or carries out emergency protective measures and maintenance of storage and gallery spaces
  • Collaborates with the Registration department to develop, update, and review Collections procedures, workflows, and standards
  • Assists with coordinating the shipping or receiving of collection or loaned objects
  • Responds to collection inquiries from staff, scholars, or the general public
This role is part of the Collections Department and reports to the Senior Registrar.


Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in library/information science, art history, museum studies, or a related field.
Experience

  • Four years of work history.

Skills:


  • A valid driver's license or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
  • Please note a driver's permit is not acceptable.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with TMS (The Museum System)
  • Knowledge of controlled vocabularies

Working Hours:

Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a one-hour meal period and is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.


  • This position is based in Sarasota, FL.
  • This is an A&P position.
  • This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check to include fingerprinting.
