Under the direction of the Director of Nursing (DON), the Infection Control/Staff Development Nurse will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the education program and service for this facility.
Responsibilities:
- Establishes, implements, and administers infection control goals, objectives, policies and procedures.
- Develops and coordinates the infection prevention and control program throughout the facility.
- Responsible for providing educational programs to residents, residents' family members, and other responsible parties based on identified needs and knowledge deficits.
- Formulates inservice education objectives.
- Establishes criteria for all inservice education programs, constructing the curriculum, course outlines, objectives, teaching methods, examinations, and evaluation tools for each program.
- Constructs an annual schedule for presentation of mandatory inservice programs.
- Plans and implements an orientation program for all Nursing Department personnel and based on identified educational needs, offers individualized counseling and guidance (including infection control and employee health program).
- Distributes educational materials to facility employees to foster continuing of knowledge.
- Serves as resource and consultant to any facility employee in order to provide ongoing learning and selfimprovement.
- As a role model, instills in each employee an appreciation of individual contribution in delivering the optimum quality care in the facility.
- Submits monthly report to Director of Nursing addressing the facility's inservice education activities.
Job Qualifications:

Education:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Strongly recommended that the individual possesses a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S. in Education acceptable).

Certificate/Licenses:Licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Registered Nurse. Active CPR Certification is required.

Experience:Two (2) years of professional nursing experience in a long-term care environment. One (1) year education or management experience with direct care staff.
