    • Healthcare Provider BLS
    • Mandatory Abuse Reporter Certification within 6 months of employment

    BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF JOB

    • Under limited supervision, plans, directs, and evaluates total nursing care and functions in one unit on a particular shift, including functioning in Charge Nurse role. Responsible for orientation, training, and management of personnel. Relates effectively with other shifts for continuity of care; maintains satisfactory relations with other departments; participates in all phases of education, maintenance of records, and upgrading of policies, procedures, and skills.

    • Functions in Charge Nurse role when assigned.

    • Supports and enforces infection control policies and procedures.
    • Is resourceful and calm in emergencies.
    • Keeps house supervisor informed of patient needs, and problems on the nursing unit.
    • Participates in orientation and in-service training for personnel.
    • Evaluates the performance of personnel with recommendations for appropriate action.
    • ssists in reviewing and revising policies and procedures.
    • Maintains professional patient confidentiality.
    • Displays concern and initiative.
    • Observes and supports hospital policies.
    • Is prompt and efficient with minimal absences.
    • Cooperates and maintains good rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, other departments, patients, and visitors.
    • Volunteers for on-call shift coverage. If shifts cannot be covered voluntarily, will be assigned to cover on-call.
    • Works independently with limited direct supervision using the Nurse Practice Act, LCHC policies, nursing standards and professional judgment.
    • Works rotating shifts, weekends and holidays as scheduled.
    • Effectively assumes job responsibilities of ancillary support during absences.
