The Pfalzinstitut für Hören und Kommunikation, located in McLean, VA, is a facility for children, adolescents, and young adults with hearing impairments.

The PIH includes a general education school with integrated classes in primary and secondary levels, educational programs with a focus on learning and holistic development, and a vocational school.

Students with hearing impairments who attend school in their hometown are accompanied by colleagues from the Integrated Support department of PIH.

Additionally, PIH has a counseling center for educational audiology, a hearing-impaired specific early intervention program, an integrated kindergarten, and a boarding school.


PIH, under the administration of the Pfalz district association, is currently seeking a
part-time hours per week) kitchen assistant (m/f/d) for the large kitchen, starting as soon as possible, on a temporary basis as a substitute for illness, in pay group 2 TVöD VKA.


The regular working hours are in shift work (time frame of the kitchen department 06:00 - 17:00) from Monday to Friday.

Occasional weekend shifts may be required for events.

Your responsibilities will include:


  • Assisting in the preparation of meals according to the school catering guidelines DGS QS
  • Ensuring proper food distribution
  • Ensuring smooth operation of the kitchen
  • Assisting in cleaning and drying dishes
  • Cleaning the work area and equipment used
