- Ability to create engaging lesson plans that promote literacy, math, and other key areas of development.
- Incorporate early intervention strategies to support children with special needs.
- Excellent communication skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Meet state-specific qualifications for the role and willingness to obtain continuing education units.
- CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Physically able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
- Ability to work with children in both indoor or outdoor settings.
- Able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children.
- Ability to see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in physical activity with children in group settings.
- Must possess the ability to read, write, understand, and speak English to communicate with children and their parents.
- Bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, Russian, Ukrainian are highly encouraged to apply.

- Complete a minimum of 12 semester units of course work in early childhood education or child development (excluding field work), including at least one course of at least three semester units in each of the following core areas:
- Child/human growth and development.
- Child, family, and community, or child and family relations.
- Programs/curriculum.Complete at least 50 days of experience in an instructional capacity in a child care and development program, working at least three hours per day within the last two years. This experience must be verified by submitting an original letter from the employer on official letterhead.
- School-Age Emphasis under this option requires that 6 of the 12 semester units in early childhood/child development be in school age course work.
