This role involves working in the field of clinical research with individuals diagnosed with psychiatric conditions who are involved in clinical trials.

The Patient Care Technician supports patients by ensuring their psychosocial needs are met during their participation in trials and helps in retaining patients in the research.

This position is on an as-needed basis, specifically requiring coverage on weekends from 7 am to 7 pm.


SUMMARY


This role involves working in the field of clinical research with individuals diagnosed with psychiatric conditions who are taking part in clinical trials.

The Psychiatric Technician supports clients by addressing their psycho-social needs during the trials and helps in keeping them engaged in the research.


Responsibilities:


  • Perform orthostatic vital signs collection (if properly trained) and communicate any abnormal results to the appropriate clinical staff, such as the research nurse on duty or the oncall MD.
  • Help clients identify any barriers that may hinder their participation in the study and work together to find solutions. Conduct group sessions as necessary, following the CRU schedule and considering the needs of the participants and the overall environment.
  • Be proficient in carrying out any responsibilities and related tasks delegated by the Nurse Manager or Charge Person for the shift. Take on additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Preferred qualifications include having previous experience in providing care for individuals with severe mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depression in a clinical setting.

It is also desirable to have prior research experience, although it is not mandatory.

Individuals with backgrounds as Patient Care Techs or Nursing Assistants are strongly encouraged to apply.

Additionally, having a basic understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred.


Qualifications:


  • 2 years of experience working with teens, adults, and geriatrics in patient care
  • Some experience working with mental health individuals
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Copy of PPD/Test Result
  • Covid History Card
  • Active CPR or must have one within 60 days
  • US Citizen
