Assistant Project Manager and Permit Coordination - Calabasas, United States - Resource Conservation District of the Santa Monica Mountains

This job will be supervised by the
Senior Conservation Biologist.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

• Assist the Project Manager with implementing the scope of work, permit coordination, meeting scheduling, contractor management, grant management and invoicing taking the Topanga Lagoon Restoration project from conceptual through 90% design and permitting and other tasks as directed by supervisor.
• Represent the RCDSMM at public meetings and events, including some evenings and weekends (as needed).
• Coordinate with the National Park Service, State Parks and other resource agencies.
• Inoffice presence required 12 days/week, flexible schedule coordinated with supervisor.
• Complete other tasks as identified by supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:


Education:
Minimum of Master's of Science (or equivalent experience) in Biology, Ecology, or related field preferred.

• At least 3 years' experience managing restoration projects and grants.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Fluent with Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
• Experience with invoicing, tracking grant budgets and supervising contractors.
• Experience conducting infield work for regulatory compliance (for example CRAM, JD, etc.).
• Flexible to work on an asneeded basis (nights, weekends) in addition to scheduled projects.

Other Requirements:

• Current driver's license with reliable transportation to the RCD office (Calabasas) and various locations within the Santa Monica Mountains.
• Must live within
  1 hour driving distance of the RCD office (accounting for weekday traffic).

COMPENSATION:
Hourly rate ranges between $35-45 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
