    Systems Safety Engineer

    The Opportunity:


    Are you looking for an opportunity to combine your technical skills with big picture thinking to make an impact in System Safety? Our team supports development of advanced weapon system development with system safety evaluation and certification programs.

    You'll leverage your specialized knowledge and expertise in system safety, including applying scientific and engineering principles, criteria, and techniques to identify and assess weapon system safety hazards and inform nuclear design certification of these new systems.

    As a systems engineer on our team, you'll enjoy a dynamic team environment of client and contractor staff while evaluating comprehensive weapon system safety, including unmanned systems, ground-based missile systems, and support systems.

    Typical work products, including Technical Nuclear Safety Analysis (TNSA), Independent Nuclear Safety Evaluations (INSE), and a variety of research whitepapers.

    You'll analyze data, develop written deliverables and assist with the presentation of results and the review of client system safety artifacts to verify compliance with requirements, policy, and guidance documents.

    You'll conduct these tasks following established plans and quality standards and the freedom to improve processes and advance the discipline of system safety.

    You Have:


    • 3+ years of experience with system safety engineering
    • Experience with performing systems engineering analysis on multiple military acquisition programs
    • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project
    • Experience with Independent Verification and Validation
    • Experience with requirements traceability
    • Experience with performing system safety analyses, including hazard analysis, fault tree analysis, probabilistic risk assessment, failure mode effects, and criticality analysis
    • Ability to communicate advanced concepts in engineering clearly and translate to non-technical individuals
    • Secret clearance
    • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Systems Engineering

    • Experience with SysML
    • Experience with using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
    • Experience with explosive safety
    • Experience with creating verbal and written communication products for clients, including analysis reports, presentations, and whitepapers
    • Knowledge of DoD and AF Nuclear Surety Policy
    • Possession of excellent leadership skills in a technical team environment
    • Master's degree in Engineering

    Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.

    The projected compensation range for this position is $58,300.00 to $133, annualized USD).

    The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
