- Responsible for Transaction taxes, Sales & Use Taxes, GST/HST/PST, Ireland VAT, Personal Property Taxes, Business Licenses, Annual Reports, RFP requests, Income Tax liaison, monitor CRA and RevQ, Regulatory liaison, other accounting duties as assigned
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) or other applicable accounting standards
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, reconciling accounts, recording journal entries, and preparing accruals to accurately reflect the financial position of the company
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by reviewing and analyzing account balances, investigating discrepancies, and implementing corrective actions as needed
- Collaborate with various departments to develop and monitor budgets and forecasts, providing financial insights and recommendations to support strategic planning and decision-making
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, financial reporting requirements, and internal controls, preparing and filing necessary reports accurately and on time
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing documentation, explanations, and support to auditors as needed
- Work closely with other departments, such as finance, operations, and legal, to gather information, resolve issues, and support business initiatives
- Maintain adherence to corporate financial policies and procedures, recommending updates or revisions as necessary to ensure compliance and alignment with best practices
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Equivalent work experience in a similar position may be substituted for educational requirements
- 3+ years of proven experience in corporate tax compliance and accounting, preferably in a corporate accounting department or public accounting firm
- Proficiency in tax software (e.g., Avalara) and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and interact with internal and external stakeholders
