Evaluates and recommends goals and objectives for the use and improvement of an efficient and cost-effective database system and software packages.

Evaluates and implements database policies and procedures; Develops goals and objectives for the use and improvement of an efficient and cost-effective database system.

May train others. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.


Essential Job Functions:


  • Evaluates users' requests for new data elements, data systems, data migration, and data integration. Provides input and analysis to other teams regarding database related topics and decisions. Setsup views, roles, stored procedures, and database links to allow use of databases. Creates tables and provides the data required to fulfill requests. Assists customers and other groups in troubleshooting, testing, and resolving database issues. Evaluates and recommends database software packages for potential acquisitions. May train others. (15%)
  • Other duties as assigned. May include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

Registration or Licensure Requirements:


Initial Selection Criteria:

Three years of database administration experience in SQL database. Bachelor's degree or higher in a technology related field is preferred. Experience in cloud migration and Power BI is preferred.


Additional Information:

This position can telework full time from any location in Texas consistent with HHS telework policies. Applicants from outside Texas must be willing to relocate within 60 days of hire.
