First World Mortgage is seeking the right candidate to fill an immediate need as a Senior Mortgage Underwriter. This is a permanent, full time position; remote work potential.
We value our employees and are looking for the right person who is looking for a long term commitment to our growing company.
The right candidate will possess the following experience/skills5+ years in the mortgage industry, with 3 of the most recent being as an underwriter for forward mortgage loansFHA Direct Endorsement requiredKnowledge of DU and LP and evaluating feedback requiredVA Automatic/LAPP requiredExperience underwriting USDA and CHFA loans preferred but not requiredPaperless environmentProficiency with Encompass desiredAttention to detail and accuracyExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to prioritize and redirect efforts as needed
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Underwrite first mortgage loans to agency and insurer complianceDecision all loan files in a timely manner and communicate decision to loan officer and processorReview conditions on loans within required timeframes to move loans to closingRegularly exercising knowledge and independent judgement to propose restructuring alternatives on loans where applicableSubmitting loans for mortgage insurance approvalPre-flighting credit and income at the request of sales force and/or managerReview appraisals to ensure adequate collateral
