THE POSITION
The
Water & Wastewater Treatment Operator will be under the direct supervision of the Area Manager and work in the Kiryas Joel area.
This position accomplishes a variety of duties related to the daily operation of wastewater and water treatment (collection, treatment and distribution).
The position will oversee a number of pump stations. This is a hourly position with a minimum of 40 hours per week on site.THE DAY-TO-DAY
Conducts routine testing of wastewater and water as directed by manager, records test results and maintains the plant logbook with accurate and timely entries of activities.
Performs daily lab tests and collects meter numbers; inputs that data into SharePoint.
Collects regulatory samples with instructions from manager.
Is present for any regulatory walkthroughs at assigned facilities.
Notifies manager if bench or SharePoint sheets need to be made for assigned facilities.
Tracks lab supplies and chemical stocks and orders more as needed.
Maintains the facility treatment units by performing basic maintenance with direction from manager.
Troubleshoots issues with instructions from managers. Performs preventive maintenance as needed.
Identifies and reports the need for repairs to treatment plant equipment such as pumps, valves, motors, blowers, and chemical feed equipment.
Calculates chemical feed rates, calibrates chemical equipment and adjusts chemical feed rates as indicated by lab tests with the direction of the Project Manager to comply with effluent quality requirements as established for the plant.
Follows all safety guidelines and procedures as directed.
Responsible for housekeeping and grounds up-keep including garbage removal, sweeping, mopping, dusting, organizing supplies and parts, cleaning bathrooms, mowing, weed trimming and snow removal.
Discusses with managers facility operations and ways to improve them.
Informs manager of any changes in the trends of operation at assigned facilities.
Researches equipment and processes on their own to improve knowledge base.
Develops ways to improve personal productivity and efficiency when performing duties.
Maintains certifications and is responsible for continued education credits.
Assists teammates when asked and available.
Performs other duties as required/assigned.
SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES DESIRED
Professional:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Valid state driver's license with no DUIs and no more than 3 violations in the past three (3) years. Must have had a valid license for 3 or more years.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Must have some technical or mechanical work experience.
Must have computer skills to operate our various systems.
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

Vision:
Must be able to Distinguish Color and have Close & Distance Vision
Ability to Operate Motors fueled by Gasoline, Diesel, or Gaseous fuels.
Ability to Paint & Use Hand Tools.
Environmental Stress:
Busy Atmosphere, Working Inside and Outside including Very Hot Temperatures & Snow and Ice. Noise Level is Moderate.
