THE POSITION:


The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution at Waymart is currently in search of a Social Worker 2 who is dedicated, creative, and well-organized.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:


In the role of Social Worker 2, you will be responsible for creating, executing, and organizing social work and case management programs for inmates at the state correctional institution (SCI) in Waymart under the department of corrections (DOC).

Your duties will involve overseeing discharge planning, community admission, and reentry planning, particularly for mentally ill inmates in SCI-Waymart's intensive care unit (ICU) or rapid treatment unit (RTU).

Additionally, you will provide support for challenging cases across the facility and conduct group and individual sessions with inmates as required, while collaborating with the unit team.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Fulltime employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday
  • Friday, with 30minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 5

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirement:


  • Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or Forensic Social Worker 1 (commonwealth titles) (must have been employed in a commonwealth social worker job title on September 8, 2008, with continuous commonwealth employment);
    or:
  • Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or a Forensic Social Worker 1 and a bachelor's degree in social work or social welfare;
    or:
  • Two years of professional experience providing direct public or private social work services, and a bachelor's degree in social work or social welfare;
    or:
  • A master's degree in social work or social welfare.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Special Requirement:


  • All employees in the Department of Corrections must obtain Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification within two months of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment in the job.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation.
